Man and woman targeted in attempted armed kidnapping in Vaughan

York police are looking for two suspects wanted in the alleged kidnapping attempt of a man and woman in Vaughan last Friday.

York police are looking for two suspects after an armed kidnapping attempt in Vaughan last week.

Last Friday, police say a man and woman, both 32, left a restaurant in a plaza near Weston Road and Crestmount Boulevard just north of Langstaff Road around 9:50 p.m.

As the pair made their way to their vehicle in the parking lot, they were confronted by two suspects armed with guns, say police.

The man and woman were threatened and then thrown to the ground, York police allege, where the male victim was struck with the gun and the woman threatened at gunpoint.

The suspects told the pair to follow them, but were interrupted when employees and customers leaving the restaurant stopped to check on the situation.

Police say the suspects fled in a black Mercedes-Benz sedan and were last seen travelling south on Weston Road.

Both victims experienced minor injuries during the assault, and investigators believe this was a targeted attack.

The two suspects were dressed in black and wearing masks.

Investigators would like to talk to those who may have witnessed the incident or may have dashcam or video of the attempted kidnapping or suspects and their vehicle.
