'Our subs don't implode': Subway sign jokes about the Titan implosion

A Subway restaurant has come under fire for posting a sign that appears to make light of the Titan submersible implosion.

“Our subs don’t implode,” read a sign posted outside a Rincon, Ga., Subway location. It triggered a debate over whether it is inappropriate and offensive given five people recently died when a submersible imploded while descending to the Titanic wreck.

According to the local station WTOC, a local store manager said the sign was removed but refused to comment further. The station reported it received messages from several people saying the joke was in poor taste, while a Reddit thread on the issue had thousands of comments.

“We have been in contact with the franchise about this matter and made it clear that this kind of comment has no place in our business,” Subway’s corporate headquarters told Fox News Digital. “The sign has since been removed.”
