Modern brides want modern wedding wear options. It’s an idea a new Vancouver bridal brand is built upon.
Dubbed Tempête — the French word for storm — the brand’s goal is to shake up the bridal-wear industry by offering sleek, stylish separates ranging from bolero-style tops to miniskirts to wide-leg trousers that can be worn on a wedding day, and beyond.
We caught up with Inga Avedyan, founder and creative director of the brand, to learn more:
Q: For those who aren’t familiar, what is Tempête?
A: Tempête is a contemporary bridal brand that revolutionizes wedding fashion with its distinctive modern style. Situated in Vancouver, Tempête seeks to redefine the standards in the wedding industry by emphasizing individuality and sustainability as core values.
Q: How did the brand come about?
A: Tempête emerged as a result of the rebranding of a well-established local bridal brand, Davie and Chiyo, which had been serving the market for over 15 years. Under the new ownership, Tempête was infused with a fresh vision aimed at revitalizing the traditional bridal landscape. The brand was carefully crafted to cater to the needs of the modern bride.
We wanted to break away from the notion that a wedding outfit is a one-time-wear item. By offering designs that can be styled in different ways, incorporated into everyday ensembles, or even repurposed for other formal events, we sought to provide brides with pieces that would continue to make them feel radiant and confident long after the wedding festivities have concluded.
