Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney have made a huge £10,000 donation to a fundraising page set up by Wrexham player Jordan Davies.

The 23-year-old footballer and his partner Kelsey lost their newborn son Arthur on December 14, and set up a GoFundMe page to raise money for Sands UK (Stillbirth & Neonatal Death Society).

The fundraiser initially had a target of £1,500, but the Hollywood pair – who bought the Vanarama National League club in November 2020 – made a generous donation.

They simply wrote: ‘Rob, Kaitlin, Ryan and Blake For Arthur. (sic)’

The charity itself looks to reduce the number of babies dying while also offering support and care to grieving parents and anyone affected.

McElhenney responded to Davies’ sad post revealing their family tragedy on social media, adding: ‘Kelsey and Jordan, @KaitlinOlson and I are so sorry for your loss. If you need absolutely anything please let us know.’

Davis had said at the time: ‘Our perfect little Arthur Andrew Davies born sleeping, 14/12/21, weighing 2.9lb.

‘We never got to spend our lives with you, but you have placed a huge mark on our hearts, forever. Heaven has gained a perfect little angel! We love you, little boy!’

Davies came through Wrexham’s academy system before making the move to Brighton & Hove Albion in 2017, but he rejoined his boyhood club over the summer, going onto score six goals in 19 appearances.

On New Year’s Eve, he signed a new contract to keep him on board until 2025, and he admitted the extension was ‘a light at the end of the tunnel’ after a difficult end to 2021.

He said at the time: ‘It means a lot for me, especially my family.

‘We’ve been through a little bit of a rough time but it’s finally some good news and hopefully a light at the end of the tunnel.

‘I think the project here is amazing and what can come from this in terms of the potential growth of the club was an opportunity too good to turn down.’
